Everything we receive is tested to determine the type and purity of the gold. It is weighed and paid by the weight in pennyweight (dwt).
We pay scrap prices; they are very fair but the price does not reflect retail cost or gold market prices. Items with gemstones pay mostly for the weight of any gold in those items.
Unless gemstones are diamonds that are carat or larger, they are considered mass produced or promotional stones (bought in bulk at low cost)and have no resale value.
Gold filled/gold plated and silver items also do not pay the same as gold. They pay only a few pennies per pennyweight.
