Use your Frequent Flyer Miles don't lose 'em

Every time, before we fly, I always join the Frequent Flyer program.  Well on our last trip I signed up myself, my husband and my son.  We all have 12, 751 miles, not enough for a flight.  Since we don't fly that often, we have had those points for about 3 years and they aren't getting any higher and they are sitting there doing "nothing".

Even though they "let" you transfer your points it costs money to do so, so I could transfer the points but it would cost me $150 for each transfer, so even after transferring all the points to one account for $300 and having 38,253 it still wasn't enough for one ticket.

So looking around the site I realized I could use the points for other things, and so I did.  If you are not a frequent flyer and you have miles sitting in accounts, instead of them doing nothing for you, use 'em.

We used our points for a hotel room in San Francisco, instead of paying 126.80 for the room (includes taxes and AAA discount) we got the room for $52.00.  A savings of  $74.80.  Not to bad for points that were in essence of no value to us.

You would be surprised by the sorts of things you can get for your miles/points, not just from airlines but hotels, rentals ect....

We were able to go on a mini vacation to San Francisco using those miles and my AAA card.  Two nights for under $200, can't even get that good of a deal from priceline!
