Make sure to shred EVERYTHING. Before ID theft was real big, around 10yrs ago, the cops came to my door because to ask me if some checks belonged to me. I had closed the account and threw them away, the cops told me they took them off of someone they had picked up. I was lucky back then. Now I make my luck, not only do I shred cc info, I shred all utility bills also.
Another thing I do which I think is a nice big discourager, when I toss my shredded stuff I make sure to empty the cats pan in with the paper ;-) hee hee heeeeee! Hey you try and get in my trash you deserve it!
